Reminder: the verb to be is irregular To be, present simple tense
Anna is young.
You are a fast learner.
When you ask questions with the verb to be, follow the structure: verb to be + subject + …?
-Are you in the room? -Yes, I am.
-Is Timmy in Liverpool? -No, he isn't.
If your question includes a question word (when, where, how, etc.), always place it at the beginning, followed by the structure described above.
-Where are you? -I am in the office.
-How is Roger? -He is fine.
Note that, after question words, you can use the short form of the verb to be.
-What's your name? -My name is Bruno.
-Who's this man? -It's Shorty.
