• Pourquoi + ne pas Why not... ? Why don't (we)...?
Pourquoi on ne va pas au cinéma ? Why don't we go to the cinema?
Pourquoi ne pas aller au cinéma ? Why not go to the cinema?
Pourquoi vous ne dormez pas un peu ? Why don't you sleep for a bit?
• Using the colloquial expression n'avoir qu'à + infinitive to just/only have to do something, might as well...
On n’a qu’à aller au ciné. We should just go to the movies.
On n'a qu'à engager un comédien. We might as well hire an actor.
• Making a question with (et) si + imperfect what if...?
Si on allait au cinéma ce soir ? What if we went to the movies tonight?
Et si vous dormiez un peu ? What if you slept a bit?
• Using on pourrait/nous pourrions we could
- Il pleut, qu’est-ce qu’on fait ? - On pourrait aller au ciné. -It's raining, what shall we do? -We could go to the movies.
