Verbs of perception
一些非自愿感官动词(to see, to hear, to feel, to smell, to taste)有共同特点:
•经常与助动词can一起使用:

I can't see much. 我看不到太多。
I can feel the baby moving inside me. 我没法感受到胎儿在我体内动弹。
• 它们不会变位成进行时形式,与其他的自愿发出动作的动词不同('to look (at)', 'to listen (to)'):
I hear what you're saying, but I don't want to listen to you anymore. 我听到你在说什么,我只是不想再听你说了。
然而,它们也可以用来表示主动动作,因此可以变位为进行时形式:
Bruno can't see who's knocking at his door.(非主动)布鲁诺看不到谁在敲门。
Bruno is not seeing anybody today.(主动)布鲁诺今天没见任何人。
Bruno is not seeing anybody today.(主动)布鲁诺今天没见任何人。
Can you feel the banana leaf added to this mixture?(非主动)你能感受到这个混合物中加了香蕉叶子吗?
Horatio is feeling a banana leaf. He says he likes its texture.(主动)霍雷肖感觉到了香蕉叶子。他说他很喜欢它的质感。

• 它们可以与宾语组合,此宾语后面跟一个不带 'to' 的动词不定式(like the verbs to watch, to observe...):
I saw the sun rise this morning. 今天早上我看到太阳升起。
Everybody heard Philip yell. 大家都听到菲利普喊叫。
