I was born and raised in the USA. At age 29 I moved to Switzerland in 1972. I learned Swiss German with my three children without formal training. My problem is that I understand what I hear in "high German" but am very poor at reading and comprehending, an age old problem that made school work difficult. At my age (77) I want to perfect my knowledge so that I may improve my written German. Gymlish is a wonderful way of learning because it is a pleasure to learn within the privacy of my home. It is entertaining and very helpful. I am at lesson 44 and learning a lot about German and my learning deficiencies.
