Conjugating regular verbs in the present tense

Regular verbs have the following endings in the present tense:

kaufen en
ich kaufe
du kaufst
er/sie/es kauft
wir kaufen
ihr kauft
sie/Sie kaufen
arbeiten en
ich arbeite
du arbeitest
er/sie/es arbeitet
wir arbeiten
ihr arbeitet
sie/Sie arbeiten

Ich gehe nach Hause. gehen, Präsens

I am going home.

Wir tanzen in der Disco. tanzen, Präsens

We are dancing at the disco.

Sie kauft eine Flasche Wein. kaufen, Präsens

She buys a bottle of wine.

Note: If a verb stem ends in ‑t or ‑d, an ‑e‑ is often inserted after du (you), er (he), sie (she), es (it) or ihr ("you" plural) to help with pronunciation.

Sigi badet ein Mal im Monat. baden, Präsens

Sigi takes a bath once a month.

Magda arbeitet im Hotel. arbeiten, Präsens
