Verbs with two forms in the simple present tense

Some verbs have two different noi (we) and loro (they) forms, as follows:

Cuocere → Cociamo/Cuociamo

To cook → We cook

Muovere → Moviamo/Muoviamo

To move → We move

These are conjugated as follows:

Cuocere
Io cuocio
Tu cuoci
Lui/lei cuoce
Noi cociamo/cuociamo
Voi cocete/cuocete
Loro cuociono
Muovere
Io muovo
Tu muovi
Lui/lei muove
Noi moviamo/muoviamo
Voi movete/muovete
Loro muovono

Other verbs that follow the same pattern include the following: nuocere (to harm) nuocere, presente, percuotere (to beat) percuotere, presente, scuotere (to shake, to move) scuotere, presente and verbs derived from these.

Sc(u)otiamo il cuore del pubblico.

We move the audience's hearts.

Perc(u)otete i dischi al ritmo che preferite.

Play the records to the rhythm of your choice.
