The pronunciation of n, nn and gn
The letter combinations n, nn and gn sound similar, but their pronunciation is actually different. Their correct pronunciation in Italian is as follows:
N: this is the simplest sound.
Rana
Canestro
Niente
NN: this sound is similar to the n but more intense and elongated, as if pronouncing the first n at the end of one syllable and the second at the start of the next.
Anno
