The present tense of fare and dare

Fare (to do, to make) and dare (to give) are irregular. They don't follow the pattern of most -are verbs. This is how we conjugate them:

Fare
Io faccio
Tu fai
Lui/lei fa
Noi facciamo
Voi fate
Loro fanno
Dare
Io do
Tu dai
Lui/lei dà
Noi diamo
Voi date
Loro danno

Io faccio quello che voglio.

I do what I want.

Francesco il libro a sua sorella.

Francesco gives the book to his sister.

Other verbs deriving from these verbs, like rifare (to redo), soddisfare (to satisfy), contraffare (to forge), ridare (to give back), darsi (to give of oneself), etc. follow the same conjugation pattern.

Ciro e Magda si danno molto da fare per l'hotel.

Ciro and Magda put a lot into the hotel (literally, “give a lot of themselves….”)

Angela non rifa la maratona quest'anno.

Angela is not doing the marathon again this year.

Note: the lui/lei (he/she) form of the verb dare (to give) is dà, with an accent, to distinguish it from the preposition da.

Francesca ti dà una mano.

Francesca is giving you a hand.

Magda viene da Roma.

Magda comes from Roma.
