Pronoun repetition: a mí me gustan los gatos (me, I like cats).

In Spanish, the direct object (DO) and the indirect object (IO) may appear twice in the same sentence.

El vino lo puse en la nevera.

I put the wine in the refrigerator (literally: the wine, i put it in the refregerator)

A Ana le gusta bailar tango.

Ana likes to dance tango (literally : to Ana, dancing tango is pleasing to her)

When the direct or indirect object is placed before the verb, it is necessary to repeat the DO or IO pronoun.

Las manzanas las he tirado a la basura

I threw the apples in the trash (literally: the apples, I threw them in the trash).

A Nacho le di 5€ de propina.

I gave Nacho 5€ as a tip (literally: to Nacho, I gave him 5€ as a tip).

It is generally repeated when the indirect object (IO) is placed after the verb: pronoun (IO) + verb + explicit indirect object.

Will you leave the note for Ana?

It is repeated for emphasis with verbs such as: gustar (like), encantar (love), parecer (seem), interesar (interest), apetecer (fancy)

A mí me gustan los gatos.

Her, she is in the mood for ice cream.
