to win: to succeed, to triumph; to gain, to obtain, to get
Note: When talking about money (in the area of work), the verb to earn or to make is used.
The president won the election by a large margin. He got 20 million more votes than the other candidate.
This is an irregular verb:

a winner: a champion, a successful person
