a cactus: a thick fleshy desert plant with spines but no leaves
Note: the plural one is cacti. Cactus is the common name of the family of the cactaceous, of the Caryophyllales. Generally they are fleshy or succulent plants, that is to say, plants that store reserves of liquid to get through times of drought.
