Reminder: This is how one group of verbs ending in -ir is conjugated in the present tense:
to sleep: we are sleeping
to open: you open
However, many verbs ending in -ir, such as finir (to finish), grandir (to grow), choisir (to choose), etc., are conjugated in the present tense by removing the -ir ending from the infinitive and adding the endings -is, -is, ‑it, -issons, -issez, -issent:
You finish your book.
We are growing.
Note: Not all verbs ending in -ir are conjugated like this.
