Verbs ending in -yer in the future tense
In the future tense, to conjugate verbs that end in -YER, such as payer (to pay), replace the -YER ending with -IER and then add the future endings (-ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont). The same goes for ennuyer (to bore/irritate), nettoyer (to clean), etc.

You can also keep the -y for verbs that end in -AYER, such as payer (to pay), balayer (to sweep), essayer (to try), etc.
Je paierai ou Je payerai I will pay.
