Croître has a circumflex accent on the i for the je/tu/il forms (je cro_î_s, tu croîs, il croît; I grow, you grow, he grows), to keep it from being confused with the verb croire (to believe)(je crois, tu crois, il croit; I believe, you believe, he believes).
