When only one person uses tu
Sometimes it is common to tutoyer someone (address them in the tu form), while they continue to vouvoyer you (address you in the vous form). For example:
• a teacher might tutoye a student, but the student will vouvoye their teacher
• an adult might do the same to a child
• the same is often true between old and young people
In French, if you get it wrong you might hear this:
