Verbs ending in -yer in the conditional present

To conjugate verbs that end in -YER, such as payer (to pay), replace the ending, -YER with -IER and then add the endings -ais, -ais, ait,-ions, -iez, -aient. The same goes for ennuyer (to bore/irritate), nettoyer (to clean), etc.

You can also retain the -y for verbs that end in -AYER, such as payer (to pay), balayer (to sweep), essayer (to try), etc.
Je paierais ou Je payerais I would pay
Nous balaierions ou Nous balayerions We would sweep
