The near future tense
In general, we use the the near future tense (le futur proche) to describe actions that will happen immediately or very soon.
Watch out, you are going to fall!
Théo is going to leave in one hour.
We form the near future tense with the present tense form of the verb aller aller, présent (to go) followed by the infinitive of the main verb.
Tu vas parler
Il va parler/elle va parler
Nous allons parler
Vous allez parler
Ils vont parler/elles vont parler
Tu vas sortir
Il va sortir/elle va sortir
Nous allons sortir
Vous allez sortir
Ils vont sortir/elles vont sortir
The near future tense can also be used to describe an action that will occur in the more distant future, although this is more commonly found in everyday spoken French than in written language.
We are going to live in Paris next year.
